Good turn out for the SWCC social ride today out of Pinjarra. Thanks to Tim for organising and Graeme for ride leading. Great to have a couple of Peel riders join us although we may have to work on Dutchie’s cafe etiquette before we invite too many non members on these rides 😊Tim’s ride reportWell a great ride was held Sunday from pinjarra up to dwellingup and return. A good turnout including 3 Mandurah riders with club stalwart Graeme Dunnet planning the route and leading the ride.Rain stayed away and good riding conditions throughout the journey. Started out from Pinjarra heading north on good surfaced backroads with Graeme and Suzanne taking a strong turn into the slight breeze. The peloton broke up over the gradual climb up Del Pak Road with a few regroups required. Excellent scenery through the forests took the mind off the heavy feeling legs.Arrived into dwellingup amidst the market day happenings but all headed straight to the Blue Wren cafe for coffee and cake. Was getting very comfortable in the cane lounge chairs when Glenn and Suzanne looked keen to get underway. Vote was to go back with the least climbing so headed straight down the main road to Pinjarra. Bit more traffic but quick downhill saw the big boys Barry and Allan take the lead.Along the flat run into the home straight Jo took the lead and no one was able to wrest this from here as she dropped the ride leader for a short while and called to ease back.Back into Pinjarra with another coffee stop at the Dome. Great ride and special thanks to Graeme for putting the ride together.Next club social ride is in June with a rail trail ride from Collie to Darkin. Details to follow closer to the date. ... NEWSLETTERMelo Velo will be closed on Saturday so at the briefing each group will need to make their own arrangements to meet for coffee. Our former café stop, Dome café, is one of the few places that is able to cater for larger groups.Congratulations to Brad & Courtney who are getting married tomorrow! (hence the closure of Melo Velo). SWCC Social Ride Pinjarra - Dwellingup loopA reminder that the next social ride occurring on Sunday 16th May. Starting/finishing at Pinjarra and looping through Dwellingup. The planning for this ride is courtesy of our long time SWCC member Graeme Dunnet, who is now based in Mandurah.Start time is 7am at the Pinjarra Dome with car parking adjacent. Ride length is approximately 70km with coffee stop at Dwellingup’s Blue Wren café.Looking for a big club turnout after our last ride was postponed due to bad weather. Note these rides are social rides so lots of chit chat and at a pace to suit all club riders. Basically plan is:- Start 7am at Pinjarra Dome (Park in "Pinjarra Junction" shopping centre car park adjacent to the Dome). - Ride the loop in clockwise direction. That is, head out of town on South Coast Highway for a few hundred metres then turn left onto Paterson Rd then right onto Corio Rd then right onto Lakes Rd, head to North Dandalup then up the hill to Dwellingup (Del Park road).- Cafe stop at Dwellingup (Blue Wren Cafe)- Then head back down the hill to Pinjarra Dome for another coffee if anyone wants. Couple of options of which way we go down the hill that can be decided on the day (i.e. steep but not as busy - Nth Spur Rd or less steep but a little busier Main Rd to Pinjarra).Lowry MemorialCongratulations to our club members who competed in the recent Lowry races. Special mention to Bryce Lanigan for winning A grade, averaging just over 44km/hr! Also well placed included Josh Commons (6th A Grade), Iain Ferry (2nd C Grade) & Chris Howard (6th C Grade).
