Getting Started

SWCC welcomes new members. We offer a range of events and rides including social rides, regular group rides, long rides, road races, time trials and criteriums.

If you are intending to join a SWCC ride for the first time we encourage you to contact us beforehand at

Most activities cater for a range of fitness levels and riders are encouraged to look at the estimated average speed of various rides to choose an appropriate ride to start with however it is suggested to start in group 3 or 4 on a Saturday or with the Sunday development series (see below) unless you have reasonable riding experience.

Riders are also encouraged to look at the SWCC Ride Etiquette prior to riding with the club.

Most rides have a ride leader assigned to them, please make yourself known to the ride leader if you are new to the group.

The club regularly runs cycleskills sessions, check out the newsletter for advertised times. The skills sessions are a great opportunity to improve your bike handling and confidence, particularly if you have limited experience riding in a group.

The SWCC conducts a range of training activities and group rides and club events. All participants are strongly encouraged to take out club membership. Riders can have a go at 3 group or training rides (not club races) prior to becoming a member but membership is required prior to taking part in club races including time trials. Full details of membership categories and costs can be found  here.

If you would like to receive our weekly newsletter, which provides details of our weekly rides, long rides and general news, write to John Hanczakowski or phone 0424 899 491
