Local rider to compete on national cycling stage.

Erin Kinnealy, a member of the Nicheliving HALL NRS Team, is pinching herself as a newcomer to the sport as she prepares for the National Road Series' King Valley tour in Victoria in August. The 30-year-old will be hoping for a successful result with team mates Melissa Robinson, Katie Joyce, Annie Bramley and Liz Leydon. Her presence is something of a surprise given that she has only been cycling for ten months with a handful of road races under her belt. Kinnealy, from Hamilton in South West Victoria, made the move to Busselton 2 years ago to get a start in the resource sector. "I started cycling because Iluka Resources had nominated a team for the Conquer Cancer Fundraiser ride in October last year" she says, "I strolled into a…

Nicholas and Erin King and Queen of Mountain

There were picture perfect conditions for Sunday’s South West Cycle Club Pile Road Hill Climb Championships and although there were complaints of a slight head/crosswind in the first section of the course a comparison from one year to the next shows most can be happy with an improvement in times posted. Bernie Blasts to Victory

Bernie Swart looks every bit the powerhouse and proved today that the potential he shows on the SWCC group rides can be translated into the race situation as he blasted up the final climb to not only win the sprint but turn it into a non-contest as he claimed his first road race victory at the Henk and Marg Stoffers event. Bernie was in the large chopping block group who had a 4 minute head start on scratch and reports were that he not only won the sprint finish, he also put in some powerful turns throughout the race. Unfortunately this meant Chris DeChaneet fresh from a trip to Bali was an early casualty from the group and proceeded to lap on his own. The rest hung tough however and…

McDonald Claims Crit Title

Former Australian Road Race Champion Peter McDonald showed that even on limited training he is still a class act as he comfortably took out the club criterium championships on the Quit Forest Rally circuit in Busselton. It was an extremely pleasant day on the Busselton foreshore and there was a thumbs up for the circuit once again. First group to test it out were the under 15 juniors.  Cadel Adams was hot favourite in this group and quickly assumed the front of the group.  Unfortunately he overcooked a corner mid race leaving Mian Grimbeek and Harrison Lawler with the opportunity to push on for an advantage.  Courtland Wood was just off the back of these front runners resplendent on his new BMC. In the last couple of laps Grimbeek put…
