On the first two Saturdays after Easter - Sat 11th April and Sat 18th April the club will be conducting skills and development sessions for those who don't have a lot of experience with group rides or wish to improve their skills. Meet at the Bunbury Entertainment Centre at 6:30am as per normal club Saturday rides. The plan is to practice some skills and do a short ride working on group riding safety and skills.  Following this we will head back to the Dome and Robbie will run through some basic bike maintenance and you can enjoy a coffee with the rest of the club members.

Back Beach Bike Blast

The Back Beach Bike Blast will be held on Sunday 29th March.  The event will bring a very rare opportunity to ride on a closed road along Ocean Drive, Bunbury. Instead of the usual Saturday group rides, the group rides will be held on the Sunday, with each group riding together as usual, and each aiming to beat their usual average speed by the largest margin, which will determine the winning group. See the attached flyer for details and click here to register online.

Fast Times at Final TT

There were some fast times once again recorded at the final event in the Marg Stoffers midweek TT series on Wednesday evening in Busselton.  It was great to see a good contingent of Busselton riders including Jamie who is now a Busselton local. Brian wasn’t sure Garry was looking too comfortable at the end of the first section but he continued on past the finish line determined not to let the cramps get the better of him this week.  He actually looked a lot better on the return leg and put in a very respectable time of   Steve Camarri was closing in although not on his best form this week but still riding well to record With no TT bars new member Phil Magee did well to stop the clock…

Bryce on Fire

Bryce Lanigan showed there is no stopping him as he scorched around the Dardanup TT course in very hot conditions on Wednesday evening stopping the clock at and taking another 18 seconds off his personal best. Little wind saw most riders close to their previous best with Steve Camarri putting in a strong ride taking a few seconds off his pb and Brent Allan (despite being held up by a dog on course) also managing a one second improvement. Mark Thomas resplendent in the new go fast club skin suit recorded a consistent as did Jessica Lawler who stopped the clock at   Craige Pettit is another to have had a consistent season posting , a very respectable time. Ben Hastie had a few mechanical issues and did not appear happy with his…

Character Building Conditions

With a strong SE breeze that appeared to pick up as the evening wore on, conditions were described by Jaiden Lanigan as ‘character building’ and certainly younger brother Bryce has developed plenty of character in the last 12 months as he showed great strength and determination to record the fastest time for the stopping the clock at just one second off a personal best.  A great effort!! Most struggled in the conditions but it was definitely a night for the youth to shine with the irrepressible Isabella Commons recording a Pb and wanting to ride home afterwards and young Courtland Wood showing that he continues to improve each week by slicing a chunk off his previous best.  Meanwhile Alex Hastie showed he puts comfort first stopping to take a toilet…

Erin Impresses Again

Sporting her new Arbitrage skinsuit Erin Kineally impressed again at this week’s TT in Busselton going chicking almost the whole field and going close to rivalling Peter McDonald’s time although he did have the excuse of no TT bars or helmet. The southerly wind meant for cool conditions and was welcomed by the time keepers if not the riders as it helped to keep the very friendly flies at bay slightly. Mark Thomas was first rider away in the long course and keen to impress with his coach on hand but rival Steve Camarri once again got the better of him. Ian Kugler put in a gutsy effort as always recording with no go fast gear while Craige once again had all the fast looking gear and put in a…

Criterium 2 Stratham 5th December

Friday night criterium racing came to Stratham for the first time this season, with the course providing something different being a longer circuit with a sweeping left hand bend around the back of the course and slight rise in the finishing straight. Although the weather looked ominous with dark clouds looming, the rain held off, though the wind refused to do the same. There was a small field in C Grade which had 20 mins and 2 laps to cover. Junior Cadel Adams was a clear winner, ahead of Claes and Steve who had a sprint to the line for the minor placings. Well done to Liesl for hanging in there all the way, it's always hard riding solo for much of any event. The B Grade field had the…

Windy Conditions for Round 2 of TT Series

Times were considerably slower across the board as riders battled the strong south westerly breeze that sprung up prior to the second event in the Marg Stoffers midweek TT series. Front marker Liesl Swart was certainly lamenting the wind as she came across the line but will no doubt benefit from the strong hit out.  It was  difficult to break the 30 minute mark with Steve Camarri pleased to get just under 30 minutes and Garry Hastie just pleased to get around the 2 laps in one piece this week.  Mark Thomas was riding within himself under coaches’ instructions and felt ‘he had plenty in reserve’ while Jessica Lawler showed the benefit of plenty of time on the front in recent criteriums to record a respectable Good to see Craige…
