Hot and windy for Dardanup TT

With a few people still on holidays there was a good turn out for the first midweek TT of 2016 but unfortunately the conditions were not exactly encouraging with the temperature still quite high and a gusty east south easterly wind that strengthened over the evening. Further impacting on times new rider Des Shearer took a wrong turn doing a few extra kilometres on the first lap while both Gary Hastie and Chris Howard took tumbles on the turn back onto Recreation Drive.  It was good to see Gary get through the two laps without cramping however as it was certainly testing conditions and Chris Howard's time of including the fall and without tri bars was a great effort. Triathlete Anthony Marinovich was having his first go at the club…

Ride leader & group awards 2015

The continuing success of the club's Saturday group rides is due to a number of factors, including a great committment by members in abiding by the SWCC ride etiquette policy, which outlines how to ride in a group situation. But it is also the tremendous efforts by the club's ride leaders who strive to ensure that our rides are held in a safe and enjoyable manner. These efforts are much appreciated by the members of our club who also have a variety of other rides to choose from throughout the week. In recognition of the ride leaders' efforts, awards were given to the following ride leaders at the end of year function. Group 1  Kim Overington - always willing to put his hand up to lead rides, even when numbers…

Robbie Comes up with New Options

Recognising that riders would be under pressure with the hair pins, it was decided to run three grades this week with juniors Josh, Isabella and Harrison slotting into C grade with Steve Camarri, John Hancza, Mark Thomas and Laurie Wilson.  After…

Thumbs up for RCR Circuit

It was a thumbs up from riders testing out the first club criterium on the closed road RCR circuit that Robbie had organised.  With no worries about cars and the buildings and plant sheltering the riders slightly from the blustery South Wester the hot mix circuit was fast and the corners friendly enough that bunches could stay together. First away were A grade with a field of nine riders up for the challenge of sticking with the likes of Bryce, Connor and Nicholas.  Some early testing accelerations were quickly reeled in before Marten, fresh from a block of racing in Queensland decided to try a move.  He quickly established a half lap break and despite strong efforts by Alistair Patterson amongst others this gap remained until around the 20 minute…
